channels, Brightwater has provided training in classification, assessment and restoration
of streams to more than one hundred engineers, consultants, and agency personnel at

Brightwater is now standard operating procedure for the Maryland State Highway
Administration on its mitigation and restoration work throughout Maryland. Brightwater has
used the system to successfully assess stream problems and design appropriate restoration
measures on dozens of sites throughout the eastern United States.
Stream restoration designs feature low cost techniques using native
materials and natural stream channel geometry. Costs are often a fraction of structural
